What to know about shopping at Aldi

I love Aldi. I can get fresh, organic products at prices way lower than other stores. Contrary to what you may have heard, they don’t sell expired or damaged foods (although if they did and their prices were even cheaper I’d be OK with that too!For more on stores which sell items past their Best-By date, read my post on What’s a Salvage Grocery store?) They just have low overhead costs and pass those savings on to the consumer. You’ll find less choice of products (but do you really need 15 choices of ketchup anyway?), but I’ve never had a bad experience with anything I’ve purchased there.

  1. You need to ‘rent’ a grocery cart so bring a quarter-you’ll get it back when you return it
  2. Bring your own bags-better for the Earth and cheaper for you. You’ll pay for paper or plastic.
  3. If you aren’t satisfied with an item you’ve purchased, return it and get your money back PLUS get another item for free. It’s a win-win and it’s easy to save money here without using coupons so if you’re in a pinch for time this is a no-brainer.
